Thank you everyone who supported an epic Del Shannon Weekend in Battle Creek, Michigan on June 23rd, 24th, and 25th! The Friday concert featuring Brian Hyland and James Popenhagen was a smash with hundreds in attendance for the electifying evening. Battle Creek's mayor brought Craig Westover and his daughter Amanda on stage to announce June 23rd to officially be "Del Shannon Day" then presented James Popenhagen with the key to the city! Michael Delaware from the Battle Creek Regional History Museum said a few words, then passed the mic to Roy Lafountain (formerly of WKNR) to emcee the show. The Hi-Lo Band warmed up the audience and then Brian Hyland hit the stage to play his hits and some oldies favorites. James Popenhagen followed after to offer an authentic Del Shannon Tribute Show. Popenhagen then brought Hyland back on stage for an encore number, "Do You Wanna Dance." After the show both Brian and James mingled with the crowd, signing autographs and taking photos with the appreciative fans.

Saturday's Car Show featured well over 100 hundred classic and vintage cars at the First Annual Del Shannon Car Show in Battle Creek! Brian Hyland came out to enjoy the cars and hang out with Del's fans and Battle Creek locals before having to catch his plane in the afternoon. The weather was perfect, the fellowship was outstanding, and trophies were passed out to winning cars by the Westover family. Thank you to Battle Creek Regional History Museum and The Misfits Car Club for organizing this event, supported also by the Sundowners Car Club.
